C A N V A S

In my dreams, I’m painting a portrait.

She is wearing the mask, she is playing the role.

Her colors are fading as my life evaporates before the Sun.

This canvas remains unstained…

When I see a tall tree, I see a subject of perseverance.

Standing there, enduring the harsh conditions to which one is subjected to.

Across this valley, these desolate lands, lies a span of mountains vast & grand.

Beneath fields of oak trees, like reaching arms & open hands,

Under star-filled skies awaits the promise land…

R E F L E C T I O N

I alone walk these frozen hills
The paths we carved once was ours
A summer’s burn never felt so good
When you would hold me in your arms
You would open up my eyes
We we’re just getting started
A fresh, new path, with new friends, different sins
It was all glorious & gorgeous before the storm
The rains that came that day, the heart of nature
Mother Nature has her way, some days just fade away
Some days we could have saved, some things we cannot replace
And as the day grew older, aging into the night
Growing older, but still in it for the fight
We came to know & understand that with each day there’s always something new to learn
Be humble to those you find around you, teach them something they can pass on, before you’re gone
Because we only live -O-N-C-E-
The realization that you were no longer around
That you were never coming home
Struck me down, with the force of 100 lightning bolts heading towards the ground
Memories of fire flies in your eyes
The way you made heaven & earth collide
It was the perfect storm
But you were the ray of light that somehow shot out & escaped from the darkness
The darkened clouds, the rains & all the things it left behind
You were like a dream, the perfect design
Rarer than any diamond a man or machine could ever mine

untitled

I see the darkness
Fabrication of phantoms who betray me
Swallowing fear behind a curtain
Only to gait with falter

I engulf the rays of light
Giving birth to breath
Tainted lungs capture emotions
Spoken words turned to potion

I speak in silence
Lurking beneath shadows of sorrow
Misguided intentions decay
Acquiesced in solace at the strike of solstice

When darkness comes
There will be fire
And when burnt out, the smoke rises
Higher into the air, higher and higher

Illuminating skies
The shadows dance with the flare of the fire
Water pours in and mends our desires
Still we stand feeling all the energy
Ready to embark on our mission of generosity

L I V I N G T H E D R E A M

For so long I've watched humans stumble and fall, beg and crawl, I've seen them risk it all just to lose it all, frivolously throwing opportunities away. I've seen their lust for blood; they leech onto you, and for however long they hold, they mold you, scold you, shape you to their fancy and control you, and when their through with you, you’re thrown away, discarded, let go, as if you were never anything in their pocket book show. Just let it go, you tell yourself…and yes, karma’s a bitch, but shes also a beautiful blessing. Shes almost as close as you can get to a birthday wish, just almost though; because at any point in time she’ll up and leave you, like a ghost in the wind. This road you travel, the paths you follow, make you who you are. The very grounds you tread upon, once lost to a Kingdom that was not our own has forever been scared, weathered and seasoned to fill up your jars; look at you and your fucking glasses. Not the kind you see with [deceive with] but the kind you drink with [believe with]. So eager to fill the glass; is it half-full or half-empty? What you've yet to understand is that it does not matter if the glass is half-full or half-empty, hell, it could be fucking overflowing at the rim, or as desolate as an empty fishbowl; with no water or corals to swim, let alone no fish or friends. Nothing but air and salt, and the suffering within. The point is you’re all “Living the American Dream.” Oh how fortunate you are that wherever you live resources are available. How nice it must be to have such commodities, there are many humans on this planet, Earth, who will never see a glass, let alone a fishbowl, because they will expire before we can reach them. Even with open hands we somehow find a way to elude and exclude them from privileges given to them before they even knew it was a birth right to begin with.

Lamentations

To the gallows we all will drown, as these black creek waters gurgle in our throats, the sound escapes in silence among the shallows, letting our footprints, scars & marks corrode & erode, but abound we are found, a legacy left for us sea urchins to avail, mounting our ships, we prepare the ropes and sails; seeking the gates of heaven and hell, but when brimstone and firewater prevail, will kind eyes beseech us or set us for a course on a ship that was never meant to set sail?
